Mars is energy, courage, and the drive to act

Mars is energy, courage, and the drive to act. It rules effort, competition, siblings, land, and technical skill. A strong Mars gives initiative and stamina; an afflicted one can tip into conflict and haste.
Parashara describes Mangala (Kuja) as the strength of the natural person, the commander among the grahas, of fiery kshatriya nature, cruel in temperament, with a slender waist and bilious constitution. He is the karaka for siblings, courage, and land. His deity is Subrahmanya (Karttikeya); his direction is south; his day is Tuesday.
— Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra ch. 3 (Graha Svarūpa)
Mars is exalted in Makara (deepest at 28°), debilitated in Karka, with moolatrikona in Mesha 0°–12° and own signs Mesha and Vrishchika. Friends are the Sun, Moon and Jupiter; Mercury is an enemy; Venus and Saturn are neutral. Mars gains directional strength in the 10th house and casts special aspects on the 4th and 8th houses from itself in addition to the 7th. Its placement in the houses examined for kuja dosha (1, 2, 4, 7, 8, 12 from lagna or the Moon) is weighed in marriage matching, with classical cancellations applying.
Your placement is shown in the band above: this states where Mars falls in your chart and links each term to its page.
