The Narayana dasha answers time's question with signs instead of planets. In this Jaimini system the periods of life belong to the twelve rashis: when a sign's dasha runs, everything that sign holds in your chart wakes up — the planets placed there, the houses it rules, the promises tied to it — and life takes on that sign's concerns. Because signs are the fixed rooms of the chart while planets are its moving tenants, Narayana dasha is prized for timing the outer, tangible events of a life: the career rise, the change of home, the marriage, the season of gain. The dasha does not begin from a fixed point but from the chart's own centre of gravity: the stronger of the ascendant and the sign opposite it, judged by classical rules of sign strength. From there the periods step through the zodiac in an order set by the nature of that starting sign, each period lasting as many years as the distance between the sign and its lord allows — up to twelve when the lord sits at home. Two full rounds cover 144 years, the second completing what the first left unfinished, so every sign has its say twice. Astrologers read it beside the Vimshottari dasha the way a surveyor uses two sightlines: when the planetary clock and the sign clock point at the same house in the same season, an event is called with confidence.
Jaimini's rasi dashas allot periods to signs, the span of each determined by the count from the sign to its lord — reckoned zodiacally for odd-footed signs and in reverse for even-footed — one year per sign traversed, twelve when the lord occupies its own sign, one more for an exalted lord and one fewer for a debilitated one. Scorpio and Aquarius are judged through the stronger of their two lords, Mars or Ketu and Saturn or Rahu.

The engine implements the Narayana dasha as taught in the Sanjay Rath tradition and verified against the JHora reference: the seed is the stronger of the lagna and the seventh sign under the Jaimini strength ladder (occupants, the support of Jupiter, Mercury and the dispositor by rasi drishti, exaltation, sign nature, and lord advancement as tie-breaks); the twelve periods then follow fixed progression tables keyed to the seed sign's movable, fixed or dual nature, with Saturn in the seed forcing zodiacal order and Ketu in the seed reversing the count. Spans use the count-to-lord rules with the stronger co-lord for Scorpio and Aquarius (node dignities per the module's JHora table). A second cycle gives each sign twelve years minus its first span, the two cycles totalling 144 years; every period divides into twelve equal antardashas whose sequence starts from the stronger of the signs holding the period-sign's lord and the seventh-from-it's lord.
