Ketu is the south node of the Moon, Rahu's counterpart. It stands for detachment, loss that liberates, intuition, and moksha — the areas of life a person has already mastered and is asked to release rather than chase.
Parashara describes Ketu as similar to Rahu in form — smoky, tamasic, harsh — and the tradition reads the pair as one severed body: Rahu the head, Ketu the trunk. A shadow graha acting through its dispositor, Ketu gives results resembling Mars. He is the karaka for moksha, renunciation, and spiritual insight, and features centrally in the analysis of the 12th house and the karakamsha.
