Sagittarius is the ninth sign, symbolised by the archer. It carries faith, expansion, and aim — philosophical, candid, and pulled toward whatever lies beyond the current horizon.
Parashara describes Dhanu as a dual fiery sign, male, kshatriya, rising with its hinder part, tawny, dwelling in armouries and royal courts — an archer, man to the waist and horse below. Its lord is Guru, whose moolatrikona occupies its first 10 degrees; the classical seven take neither exaltation nor fall here.
— Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra ch. 4 (Rāśi Svarūpa)
A dvisvabhava agni-tattva sign ruled by Jupiter, carrying his moolatrikona (0°–10°). On the platform's node convention Rahu is debilitated here and Ketu is exalted. For Dhanu lagna the Sun (9th lord) and Mars (5th lord) run functionally clean, while Venus carries the 6th and 11th — the lagna reads best through the fire-triplicity friendships. A prishtodaya sign, counted stronger at night.
