Conjunction — yuti — is two or more planets sharing the same sign, sitting together and blending their natures into a single mixed influence. Where an aspect is a glance across the chart, a conjunction is planets living in the same room: close, unavoidable, sharing everything. What the blend feels like depends on the company. Friendly planets in one sign reinforce each other and pull the same way; unfriendly ones jostle and pull apart, so the house they share carries a mixed, restless quality. A benefic can gentle a harsher neighbour, and a harsh planet can strain a gentle one — and the strongest planet, or the lord of the sign, usually sets the tone for the whole group. Closeness sharpens all of this: the nearer two planets sit by degree, the more completely they fuse, and a planet drawn too close to the Sun is swallowed by its glare (combustion). Numbers matter too — two planets make a blend, but several crowded into one sign pour a great deal of life into a single area of the chart, often a defining theme, powerful but hard to untangle. Read a conjunction, then, less as one planet plus another and more as a new compound with a character of its own.
