Taurus is the second sign, symbolised by the bull. It carries steadiness, patience, and attachment to comfort — slow to move, slower to let go, and loyal to what it values.
Parashara describes Vrishabha as a fixed (sthira) earthy sign, female, vaishya by caste, rising with its hinder part, white in hue, dwelling in villages and pastures. Its lord is Shukra; the Moon is exalted here at the 3rd degree and holds her moolatrikona through the rest of the sign; no graha is debilitated in it — Ketu's debilitation falling here only in some later schemes.

A sthira prithvi-tattva sign ruled by Venus: planets here consolidate and hold. It hosts the Moon's exaltation (deepest 3°) and her moolatrikona (3°–30°) — the only sign carrying both for one graha across its length.
