चर कारक Cara Kāraka

Chara karakas are Jaimini's movable significators: in each chart the planets are ranked by degree, and the highest becomes the Atmakaraka — the soul's own planet — with the rest taking roles like career, spouse, and mother in descending order. Where the natural karakas are fixed for everyone, these are personal to your chart. Jaimini's method sets aside which planet is which and simply ranks them by how far each has advanced within its sign — the one at the highest degree becomes the Atmakaraka, the significator of the soul, whose condition speaks for the deepest arc of the life. The rest take the remaining roles in a set order: counsel and career, siblings, mother, father, children, rivals, and spouse. Because the ranking is by degree, the same planet can play the soul in one chart and the spouse in another. The Atmakaraka especially is read with care — its place in the navamsha, called the karakamsha, opens a door onto a person's inner and spiritual life — which is why this movable scheme sits at the heart of the Jaimini approach, beside the Parashari houses and the natural karakas.
