The Significance of Kamika Ekadashi
Celebrated to achieve spiritual purity, forgiveness, and divine favor, Kamika Ekadashi is a sacred Hindu fast dedicated to Lord Vishnu. The date is the eleventh day of the Krishna Paksha (waning moon) during Shravana (July-August). This Ekadashi is exceptionally potent for purging negative karma and achieving spiritual awakening.
Fasting, prayer, and charity are observed by devotees who believe that worshipping Lord Vishnu on this day leads to freedom from past sins, and bestows peace, prosperity, and moksha.
The Power of Kamika Ekadashi in Removing Sins
According to Hindu scriptures, fasting on Kamika Ekadashi washes away even the gravest sins. Observing this Ekadashi is believed to be as meritorious as performing a great yajna (sacrificial ritual) or taking a sacred dip in the holy Ganges River. It is said that one who observes Kamika Ekadashi is blessed with a place in Vaikuntha (Lord Vishnu’s divine abode).
This Ekadashi is also closely associated with Tulsi (the holy basil plant), which is considered dear to Lord Vishnu. Offering Tulsi leaves in Vishnu Puja on this day is believed to remove all obstacles and sins. Lighting a lamp near a Tulsi plant on this day is said to bring peace and prosperity.
