Trikona
The trikonas are the fortune triangle — houses 1, 5 and 9
The trikonas are the fortune triangle — houses 1, 5 and 9. They carry merit, luck, and blessing; their lords are the most reliably benevolent planets a chart has. If the kendras are the chart's power, the trikonas are its grace. The three make a triangle of fortune — the self (1); creativity, intelligence and the merit carried from the past (5); and dharma, fortune and the blessing of teachers and elders (9) — and the tradition treats them as auspicious in their own right, the seats of Lakshmi. Their lords are a chart's most dependable friends: for any ascendant, the planets ruling the trines tend to give good results simply by that rulership, whatever else they are doing. And where a trine lord and an angle lord combine, grace meets power and a raja yoga is born — which is why so much of chart reading begins by finding these lords and asking how well they sit.
The trikonas (Lakshmi-sthanas) are auspicious in themselves, and their lords give good results by lordship alone — the pivot of functional-benefic doctrine.
