केन्द्र Kendra

The kendras are the four pillar houses — 1, 4, 7 and 10. Planets standing in them act with force and visibility; they are the chart's load-bearing corners. These are the angles of the chart — the same four points a building rests its weight on — and a planet placed here is handed a stage: its results show plainly in the life, at full volume, for better or worse. The four cover the pillars of an existence — the self (1), home and heart (4), partnership (7), and work and standing (10) — so whatever sits in them tends to become visible, public, structural. A benefic here steadies and blesses the whole chart; a malefic here is powerful too, and has to be reckoned with. Above all the kendras are half of the chart's engine of success: when the lord of an angle joins hands with the lord of a trine, power meets grace and a raja yoga is formed — the classical signature of rise and achievement.
