Ardra is the sixth nakshatra, in the middle of Gemini. It carries the storm — intensity of feeling and thought that breaks things open, and the fresh clarity that follows rain. Those born under it are often truthful, compassionate and oddly childlike, feeling and thinking with a storm's intensity; frequently private, even introverted, they work hard toward their aims and carry a real power to break down and to transform. As after rain, difficulty here tends to give way to fresh clarity.
Presided over by Rudra, the howling storm god, with the teardrop as its symbol. Its Vimshottari lord is Rahu.
— Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra daśā adhyāya (Vimśottarī lords)
Span 6°40′–20°00′ Mithuna; lord Rahu in Mercury's sign — the sharp, penetrating-analysis signature. On this platform's convention Rahu is exalted in Mithuna, so Rahu placed in his own nakshatra here is doubly emphasised.
