Madhyavayasi Dhana Yoga FAQ
Madhyavayasi Dhana Yoga is a wealth-oriented Vedic astrology yoga associated with financial consolidation, success, and asset accumulation especially during middle age. It points to a chart where wealth becomes stronger after maturity, planning, and experience.
Madhyavayasi Dhana Yoga forms when the 2nd Lord joins the Lagna Lord and the 11th Lord in a kendra or trikona house, and that conjunction receives the aspect of a natural benefic. The traditional rule also mentions higher Kala Bala for the 2nd Lord, though the calculator does not rely on that as a strict formation threshold.
The calculator checks whether the 2nd Lord, Lagna Lord, and 11th Lord are joined in a kendra or trikona, then verifies whether the conjunction receives benefic support. It focuses on the structural strength of the combination rather than using Kala Bala as a hard requirement.
When strong and well-supported, this yoga can indicate rising wealth, stronger savings, asset building, financial confidence, and improved success timing in the middle period of life. It is especially favourable for consolidation rather than only early or sudden gains.
The yoga can weaken when the 2nd, 9th, or 11th houses or their lords are afflicted, because that reduces the stability of wealth growth and can create delays, leakage, or inconsistency. In such cases, the yoga may still work, but it needs more discipline and planning to give lasting results.
Madhya Vayasi Dhana yoga is mentioned in the book ‘300 Important Combinations’ by Dr. BV Raman. The yoga is categorized under wealth and asset accumulations and is an auspicious yoga.
As prescribed by the great sages and scholars since ancient Vedic period, the yoga related to wealth, materialism, social fame and success is not just related to certain yoga combination, but it’s a detailed study and analysis of the horoscope taking into various factors such as 2nd, 11th, 9th, 5th and 10th Lords and houses. A certain special combination happening in horoscope with supporting planetary strength will give rise to riches beyond imagination, even if the involved planets are natural malefics. One such yoga is Ganesha Yoga, or Corepati Yoga, when formed under its best position and strength, will give rise to higher wealth and wisdom.
Madhya Vasayi Dhana yoga is formed when 2nd Lord conjuncts with Lagna and 11th Lords in a Kendra or Trikon house and receives an aspect from a natural benefic, while demonstrating higher Kaala Bala. (a type of planetary strength known as temporal strength which gathers calculated results from 9 different sources.) You may read more about Planetary strength calculation under our blog - read more.
Note: This Calculator ignore Kaala Bala of 2nd Lord as there is always a minimum value shown by a planet under Kaala bala.
A person born with Madhya Vayasi Dhana yoga will gain most of their wealth and will be successful and rich during their middle age.
Anthya Vayasi Dhana Yoga and Balya Dhana yoga are two other wealth related yoga which says about the period of wealth accumulation.
Bhratrumooladdhanaprapti Yoga
When 3rd Lord gets conjunct with Lords of Lagna and 2nd while getting an aspect from a benefic planet, this yoga is formed. One born with the yoga will be fortunate through their siblings and closer relatives.
Matrumooladdhana Yoga
If 2nd Lord is aspected by the 4th Lord or if both the 2nd and 4th Lords are in conjunction, this yoga is formed. The native will be blessed with their maternal wealth and assets.
Putramooladdhana Yoga
If 2nd Lord is in conjunction with 5th Lord or Jupiter and Lagna Lord attain Vaiseshikamsa, this yoga is formed. The native will be fortunate through their children or progeny or the person will gain their riches after the birth of their son or daughter.
Satrumooladdhana yoga
While Lagna Lord attains Vaiseshikamsa, the strong 2nd Lord should get conjunct with Mars or 6th Lord. The native with this yoga will gain through their opponents and enemies. In real-life scenario, gains through winning litigations can be seen through this yoga.
What is Vaiseshikamsa? - (Info. source - Jataka Parijata Vol 1, Ch. 1 Sloka 44)
Note: Detailed report on Vaiseshikamsa strength and influence on your existing yogas and combinations are available in our Premium Horoscope
In simple words, the term Vaiseshikamsa measures a planet's ability and dignity to deliver results based on its natural character and assigned role in a specific Horoscope.
If a Planet occupies its Own, Mooltrikon, Exaltation or Vargottam Rashis across Dasa Varga (10 primary divisional charts, such as D1 or Rashi, D2, D3, D7, D9, D10, D12, D16, D30, D60), then occupation count over these Vargas says about the dignity of the planet.
When such occupation is happening in two charts, the planet is said to be in Parijatamsa. In three Vargas: Uttamamsa, four: Gopuramsa, five: Simhasanamsa, six: Parvatamsa, seven: Devalokamsa, Eight: Brahmaloka, nine: Iravatamsa.
Uttamamsa and above are considered highly auspicious. The above mentioned Dasa Varga scheme is very important while judging the yogas, dashas, and important planetary combinations.
Important Note: An ambiguity exists regarding the planet's Vargottam Rashi, whether it should be considered in Vaisesikamsa. According to Jataka Parijat, the author under his notes, says 'Vargottam' instead of 'Own' Vargottam Rashi. I have seen many scholars and astrology software counting only own, mooltrikon and ucha Rashi while omitting Vargottam Rashi.Sage Parashara also mentions that Kendras from “Swa Arudha” as an optimized position for vaiseshikamsa, but this statement is not much clear. So this interpretation is up to the Astrologer who is judging the birth chart.
Take the case of Moon, Mars and Venus, whose exaltation signs are not friendly rashis. So Vaiseshikamsa calculations, based on exaltation and mooltrikon (in case of Moon) placements, need to be judged properly. Similar problem is there with Vargottam planets, as these planets can be in its enemy or debilitated sign while being in a Vargottam state. So Vaiseshikamsa or any other similar strength analysis can show a planet which is strong as a ‘villain’ or as a ‘hero’.
