Parashuram Jayanti - 15-June-2026
Parashuram Jayanti
The important Hindu festival of Parashuram Jayanti commemorates the birth of Lord Parashuram, the sixth avatar of Vishnu. This is observed during the Vaishakha month (April-May), on the third day of the bright fortnight.
Lord Parashuram embodies righteousness, courage, and justice. His unwavering devotion to dharma (righteousness) and his actions as a warrior-sage fighting injustice and defending truth are what he is famous for.
The Birth and Mission of Lord Parashuram
Sage Jamadagni and Mata Renuka’s son, Lord Parashuram, possessed immense strength, divine wisdom, and unparalleled martial skills. His signature weapon, the divine axe known as the Parashu, was a gift from Lord Shiva. He sought to topple corrupt and oppressive rulers, revive dharma, and create a just world.
Famous for his confrontations with haughty Kshatriya kings, Parashuram repeatedly vanquished them to establish righteous governance. He’s also renowned for his martial arts and advanced weaponry instruction, mentoring legendary warriors such as Bhishma, Dronacharya, and Karna.
It is said that, in contrast to other forms of Vishnu, Parashuram is an immortal (Chiranjivi) who resides in deep meditation within the Himalayas. His return at the end of the Kali Yuga to guide humanity is anticipated.
