The Significance of Kalki Jayanti

Hindus observe Kalki Jayanti, a sacred festival anticipating Lord Kalki’s advent. Lord Kalki, Vishnu’s final incarnation, is prophesied to restore dharma (righteousness) when Kali Yuga concludes. The festival is celebrated on the sixth day of the bright fortnight of the Shravan month (July-August).

It is believed that Lord Kalki will eradicate evil and inaugurate the Satya Yuga—an age of virtue and truth. On Kalki Jayanti, devotees pray, fast, and study scriptures to receive divine blessings of protection and morality.

The Prophecy of Lord Kalki’s Arrival

Vishnuyasha and Sumati, in the village of Shambhala, will be the parents of Kalki, according to Hindu scriptures. A celestial sword in hand, he will ride his white horse, Devadatta, to vanquish evil rulers and corrupt forces. His arrival will signal the end of the Kali Yuga, an age of darkness and depravity, ushering in the Satya Yuga, an era of truth and justice.

In the triumph of Dharma, Kalki embodies the ultimate restoration of righteousness, signifying the transient nature of evil. To create a new, just world, his role emphasizes the destructive process as essential to renewal. Kalki’s prophecy inspires hope for a peaceful new age, where justice triumphs.
